SUMMARY:Hyperledger June Virtual Event
DESCRIPTION:On June 11 at 9 am PDT\, the Hyperledger Telecom SIG is hosting a virtual event that will cover the application of Blockchain to improve deployment and management of 5G networks and edge solutions. The session will examine the key xNF’s (vRAN\, 5G core\, Transport etc) and deployment/management tools (MANO\, event monitors\, CI/CD\, closed loop automation\, Edge application deployment and cloud management) integrated with Blockchain in a 5G network with edge solutions. A demonstration will also be provided of the above with on-boarding and service creation using a CI/CD process\, deployment of a 5G network slice using above service and integrating the service with the edge application layer. \nLF Edge member IBM will be presenting an overview for 5G\, Edge & Blockchain. Please see below: \nEveryone is welcome including members and contributors from other open source communities including: \n\nLFN\nLF Edge\nCNCF\nO-RAN\nTIP\n\nYou can join either from your computer or from your phone: \n\nFrom computer: https://zoom.us/my/hyperledger.community\nFrom phone: +1(855)880-1246 (toll free US number) or view International numbers\nMeeting ID: 403 498 3298\n\nFor more information\, visit the wiki page: https://wiki.hyperledger.org/display/TCSIG/2020+June+Virtual+Event

SUMMARY:(Online Event) How to make machine learning at the edge work
DESCRIPTION:Join Stacey  Higginbotham on June 11 from 9 am – 12 pm PDT for a virtual event for anyone who wants to develop a good understanding of what the edge is and how to take data and put it to good use\, both from an industrial/enterprise perspective and consumer. They will touch on technical and business considerations while learning about compelling use cases from a variety of industries. \nRegister here: https://hopin.to/events/machine-learning-at-the-edge \nWhich Edge and Why  (9-10 am PDT / 12-1 pm EDT) \nEveryone has their own version of the edge. In this panel\, we figure out how to define your edge\, and explain what to consider when designing algorithms and equipment to run those algorithms on. We’ll also talk about challenges associated with the edge whether that edge is a field in Nebraska\, a factory in Texas\, or a firefighter’s pack in Massachusetts. \n\nJulian Sanchez\, Director of Precision Agriculture at John Deere\nKaren Panetta\, Dean of Graduate Education for the School of Engineering at Tufts University and IEEE Fellow\nPeter Zornio\, CTO at Emerson Automation Solutions\n\nHow Shell Uses Computing at the Edge (10-11 am PDT / 1-2 pm EDT) \nShell has a lot of uses for machine learning at the edge\, but deploying machine learning at scale across hundreds of thousands of nodes is still too difficult. \n\nDan Jeavons\, General Manager – Data Science at Shell\n\nMaking Money at the Outer Edge (11 am-12 pm PDT / 2-3 pm EDT) \nCompanies are buying software and gear to help them process data at the edge under the hope that they can make money\, increase efficiencies\, or predict failures. But at the outer edge\, the computing can get expensive and the business models can prove elusive. Our panel of experts talks about how to think about investing in the edge while still generating returns. \n\nRob Martens\, SVP and Chief Innovation and Design Officer at Allegion\nSimon Crosby\, CTO at Swim.ai\nJason Shepherd\, VP of Ecosystem at Zededa and LF Edge member\n\n
