On November 19 at 1:45-2:15 pm, Matthew Trifiro, CMO for Vapor IO and LF Edge Chair of the Glossary of Edge Computing and Mike Woster, CRO and COO of the Linux Foundation, will lead a panel discussion titled “Let’s Get Started with Edge Implementation.” The discussion will focus on what Edge is, what it offers and whether one day the Cloud will be obsolete.

On November 20, Greg Althaus, LF Edge Member and CTO of RackN, will participate in a panel about Edge to Cloud Connectivity at 1:55 – 2:25 pm. The panel will explore the evolution and effects of 5G, LPWAN and Wi-Fi choices on manufacturers’ approaches to data collection and infrastructure and discuss how high speed and low speed data solutions pair well together to advantage the work of making. Plus, gather tested stories in how companies integrate legacy/ closed loops systems with the appropriate communication protocol while being secure.
At 4:10 – 4:35 pm, Greg will join the Cybersecurity in the Advance Manufacturing Supply Chain Panel. The panel will discuss security challenges around BYOD, Automation, Shadow IT, plus new IoT stacks and the touch points brought by new factory floor features like robotics. Attendees will learn how work with different parts of your organization to communicate and train teams on the security protocols and policies needed to minimize hacks, respond and recover quickly.
