Edge computing is a growing trend in technology that lets companies process data closer to where it originates, and there’s a lot of data to process. Gartner Research projects there will be 20.4 billion connected things being used globally by 2020. In addition, Juniper Research forecasts the number of connected Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and devices to grow to more than 50 billion by 2022.
